history of the hotel

The Kings Cross Hotel was built in 1897 and was built as a purpose built hotel, for over 100 years this hotel has welcomed guests from not only the United Kingdom but from all over the world.

During this time the name may has changed a few times but the warm welcome and great memories of Blackpool never have.

The guests present and past are of all ages, we have new young couples and families just starting their journeys and we have some great grand guests that have been coming for over 40 and 60 years and each one of them have some great stories to tell about how much has changed at the hotel, it is a great honor when they come as the young guests love to hear their stories as much as we do.

In the olden days the hotel was lit by gas lighting and the rooms were not en-suite, so as can imagine using the same shower room and toilets this day and age with other guests would seem odd, we are told that at breakfast time 50 years ago the landlady would ring a bell and you had to be quick to get it, eat up and get out as getting the rooms prepared for the next set of guests back then took much longer.
